Ukraine has announced the start of large-scale manufacturing for a new domestically developed defensive UAV to reinforce its air defences. The first three producers have begun manufacturing, with an additional eleven getting ready to set up assembly lines, Ukrainian military officials stated on Friday.

Advanced 'Octopus' System Tested in Battlefield Situations

The drones utilize a domestically developed system called “Octopus” engineered to intercept Shahed drones. The system underwent testing in combat and demonstrated effective “during nighttime, amid electronic warfare and at low altitudes,” the ministry confirmed. President Volodymyr Zelenskyy established an ambitious goal of manufacturing up to 1,000 interceptors each day.

Recent Assault on the Capital Characterized as Calculated

Volodymyr Zelenskyy characterized Moscow's most recent assault against Ukraine as “deliberate, calculated and brutal” after six people lost their lives and dozens injured in a series of nocturnal attacks across Kyiv. Alert systems sounded in Kyiv shortly after 12 AM this past Friday, with Shahed drones soon detected overhead and heavy machine-gun fire from Ukraine's aerial protection units.

The president stated the country was hit by hundreds of UAVs and multiple missiles. Those killed were at home in an apartment building on the capital's left bank during the strike. Numerous of other buildings were damaged, including the diplomatic mission of Azerbaijan.

International Objection After Embassy Damage

Azerbaijan said it delivered a formal objection to the Russian ambassador this past Friday after the embassy damage. Ukraine’s general staff stated its military had fired domestically produced missiles and used multiple kinds of attack UAVs in the assault against Novorossiysk “within the framework of efforts to diminish the strategic capabilities of the invading force.”

Ukrainian forces separately struck an oil refinery in the Saratov area and an energy depot in the adjacent Engels region during the night.

International Sanctions Affect Moscow's Energy Company

Russia’s second-largest oil producer Lukoil announced on Friday it has been in talks with interested parties concerning its international holdings following last month’s restrictions from Western nations and failure of a deal with the Gunvor trading house. “Final arrangements are to be disclosed after conclusive negotiations have been reached and the necessary regulatory approvals are secured,” Lukoil stated.

Zelenskyy Plans Visit to Spain

Volodymyr Zelenskyy will visit the city of Madrid, the Spanish capital, next Tuesday to confer with parliament members following his visit to Paris, the chamber of deputies announced. Zelenskyy will convene with deputies from all houses of parliament during his visit, an official announcement confirmed.
