The Fifth Toy Story Film Teaser Pits Woody and Buzz Versus a Tablet Computer

It has been 30 anniversary after the original Toy Story movie debuted, establishing Pixar as a major animation studio and introducing audiences to beloved characters like Woody (the actor) and Buzz Lightyear (Tim Allen), who are now household names.

Coming in 2026, the next chapter is scheduled for release. The first teaser trailer for Toy Story 5 appeared this week, offering a glimpse into the storyline but leaving viewers curious how it will resolve the ending of Toy Story 4.

The Latest Addition: A Frog-Shaped Tablet Frightens the Gang

The preview reveals the young girl — who received the toy collection when he left for college — getting a brand new plaything, one that alarms the familiar toy group. Bonnie gets her first tablet computer, and she is excited about it.

Theoretically, the frog-shaped tablet will animate just like Bonnie's other toys. Still, the toys appear to consider it as a danger coming to replace them, which it probably is.

The Cowboy's Comeback: Mysteries from Toy Story 4

One thing the teaser avoids is why the sheriff is back with his friends in Bonnie's room. The finale of Toy Story 4 saw him set off on a new adventure with the shepherdess (Annie Potts), journeying with a carnival and assisting prize toys find good homes.

Certainly, Pixar will explain the consequences of Toy Story 4 in the film. Seeing him show up in Bonnie's room unexpectedly is a little strange, though. It also makes us wonder whether Bo Peep will have come back with him. And where is the stuntman toy (the star)?

Continuity from the Last Installment

Fortunately, some elements are carrying over from the prior film. The final act Woody did before setting off for his fresh path was pass his symbol of authority to the cowgirl (Joan Cusack), leaving her as the leader of the toy domain. In the teaser displays the insignia attached to her shirt.

It is hoped she is still the key figure among the group.

Toy Story 5 debuts on June 19, 2026.
