19 of the Russian's twenty-one titles have been won on hardcourt
A comeback the Russian player secured his first championship for nearly 30 months with victory over opponent Moutet in the tournament championship match.
Medvedev, a former top-ranked player, has had a torrid period, achieving just a single victory at the big events and experiencing a meltdown at the American major.
The player's inconsistency on the professional circuit - and difficulties with his service game in specific - resulted in him exiting of the elite rankings and finally parting ways with long-time mentor his previous coach.
Now training with Johansson and Rohan Goetzke, Medvedev has gradually advanced in the last few weeks - peaking in a closely contested 7-5 4-6 6-3 triumph over challenger Corentin Moutet.
It is his maiden championship after the Rome competition and first on a hard surface from spring of the previous year.
Victory also means the Russian has won 21 victories at twenty-one different tournaments.
"It's the first time I have attended a tournament with my both daughters at once, so to win a trophy is really nice," said world number 14 Daniil Medvedev.
"This championship is in honour of my child her name, because the first title I got when my older daughter her name was born was for her."
The athlete, the past champion, had lost his past six finals, featuring in that event previously this season.
His counter-punching approach and regular reactions on the tennis court had prompted some to question if his skill to play at the elite level was concluded.
Yet the athlete has made changes in the past month, making an effort to come to the net and compete aggressively, reinforced by an better serving game.
He recovered from a break down in the initial set against the difficult opponent, taking four of the last five points to gain the advantage.
The competitors exchanged break points in the following set before Moutet, attempting for his maiden professional championship, seized the initiative to create a decider.
He saved 4 early chances in a close final set before the Russian broke to fifteen to secure the win.
Suitably, Medvedev clinched the win with a point at the front of the court, with Moutet incapable to manage a return after over two and a half hours.
