Jurgen Klopp admits coming back to lead Liverpool is theoretically possible.

The German coach, who stepped down from Liverpool in 2024, has suggested that returning someday remains an option. The 58-year-old, following a hugely successful nine-year spell that included Champions League success and the Premier League crown for three decades, currently occupies positions overseeing worldwide football within the Red Bull organization and as an advisor to Germany's league body.

Fan Sentiment and Klopp’s Candid Remarks

The club claimed the Premier League last season, yet numerous supporters who revere Klopp would welcome the idea of his potential comeback. In a wide-ranging interview, he explained to his interviewer: “I said I will never coach a different club within the country. So that means should it be the Reds...yes. Theoretically it’s possible.”

“Being 58, that means I might decide in a few years, who knows. Must I choose now? Then I will not coach again. But thank God, I don’t have to do that. I'll wait and observe what the future brings.”

Conditions for a Comeback

Questioned regarding what circumstances would have to unfold to draw him back to management, he confessed he feels no immediate pull for a comeback. “I'm not entirely sure, I enjoy my current role,” he commented. “No longing for management; I don’t miss standing under bad weather for lengthy sessions; I don’t miss going to media briefings repeatedly each week or constant media duties each week.

“The locker room isn't missed per se, however, dining out with the team having a nice chat, that’s nice. Success was frequent thus frequently positive atmosphere around the place. I can still hear Van Dijk's laughter in my ear to illustrate.”

Commending Arne Slot

He spoke highly regarding Arne Slot, praising him for the tweaks which secured the championship last term. The team has suffered four consecutive matches across various tournaments following significant transfers, but he rubbished the suggestion it could be the start of a downward turn.

“[Liverpool have] an incredible striker in Flo[rian] Wirtz, you will all eat your words if you use the wrong words. He’s an incredible talent. Ekitike, superb talent. It’s a really good balanced team. Fans shouldn't fret over the club, they'll bounce back.”

Emotional Tribute for Diogo Jota

He shared movingly regarding the passing of Diogo Jota, a 2020 acquisition while in charge, and its impact at the club. Jota was killed in a car crash with his brother in July.

“How do you replace somebody like Diogo? This isn't just regarding his footballing ability, it's his character. It's hard to picture the squad missing him. I still cannot speak properly regarding this. It was an incredible shock for all the boys as well. Nobody at Liverpool will ever use it for poor performances yet it's the reality. You walk in a dressing room where he was omnipresent. Dealing with that emotionally is not easy. Unbearable.”
