Iran's military claims to have hit a US naval base in Manama, as Iran launched strikes throughout the Middle East in response for a large-scale and ongoing offensive against it by the US and Israel.

Huge plumes of black smoke were seen rising from an vicinity close to the headquarters of the American Fifth Fleet in Manama, Bahrain. The extent of any destruction is not yet known and the American officials has yet to issue a statement.

Missile Defenses Activated

Elsewhere across the region, the United Arab Emirates, Qatar and the State of Kuwait - all home to US military bases - reported they have shot down missiles in their airspace.

In the Qatari capital, the Qatari Ministry of Defence announced it had intercepted several missiles seemingly aimed at the al-Udeid air base, the largest American base in the Middle East.

IRGC Statement

Iran's Revolutionary Guard Corps (IRGC) stated it was striking US bases and assets as part of military campaign "Truthful Promise 4", in reprisal for the offensive on Iran carried out by the United States and its ally Israel on Saturday morning.

That US-Israeli operation - initiated at around 06:15 GMT - has so far targeted locations linked to the Tehran's leadership, with US President Donald Trump calling on the people of Iran to rise up against the leadership.

Additional Developments

In Israel, air raid sirens sounded nationwide after the Israel Defense Forces stated it had identified an incoming Iranian missile barrage.

The defence ministry of the United Arab Emirates announced that the country has been targeted by a "a blatant attack involving Iranian ballistic missiles".

"Emirati air defenses responded to the projectiles with high efficiency and successfully intercepted a several projectiles," it added.

Officials reported debris fell on a residential area in Abu Dhabi, causing some structural damage and fatalities.

The US Air Force operates from Al Dhafra Air Base, to the south of the Emirati capital, along with the Emirati Air Force.
