Grief as Renowned South African DJ Shot Dead in the City of Johannesburg.
A prominent South African radio and club DJ has been murdered in the nation's economic hub Johannesburg, causing national outrage across a country struggling with entrenched crime.
Warrick Stock, popularly known as DJ Warras, was attacked in the central business district on a Tuesday afternoon.
Police said the 40-year-old media personality was accosted by three individuals, with one opened fire on him before fleeing on foot.
The purpose of the incident has not been established and no suspects have been apprehended have taken place, as per the official statement.
Details of the Attack
Police revealed that Stock was attacked as he was exiting a building near the Carlton Centre.
He had devoted time at the building managing the setup of security systems, which had been reportedly taken over by unidentified individuals, it was reported.
"The report indicates the victim was confronted by three unidentified men after he parked his car, and they opened fire at him before fleeing the scene on foot," an official report stated.
Surveillance tape showed a individual with dreadlocked hair and wearing what looked like a protective services outfit shooting on Stock before making his escape.
The DJ tried to run away after he was shot but fell down a short distance away.
It was further revealed that Stock had an unused firearm and no items were stolen during the attack.
