Bills' Bay Day Gives New England Route to AFC East Lead - Best of NFL Week 10

Week 10 again delivered, with a huge upset for the Buffalo Bills proving the 'any given Sunday' saying that draws so many people into the National Football League
That result may have opened opportunities for the New England Patriots to creep back into a top spot they used to occupy, with a remaining games that provides them an edge over their 8-2 competitors
Meanwhile in the NFC the Seahawks and Rams had perfect results to set up a major confrontation next week, while our top performer is chasing records as well as the MVP award
The Breakdown - Simply an Off Day for the Bills?
Could it simply have been an emotional comedown from defeating Kansas City the previous week or something more? This remains the question for the Bills to address
The Buffalo squad had won seven in a consecutive games against the Dolphins but were second best from the beginning as the Dolphins emerged as 30-13 victors in an eye-opening outcome - and performance
MVP Josh Allen only got the squad's initial first down in the third period and initial scoring in the fourth - yes the Dolphins had ten days to prepare but it was nonetheless a massive egg laid by one of the NFL's top offences
Tua Tagovailoa passed for two touchdowns but running back Achane was the devastating difference, with 225 total yards and two touchdowns
Bottling up the league's best rushing attack was crucial too, with James Cook and teammates registering just eighty-six yards, their lowest of the year and just over half their 161.5-yard average
Additionally there were the three critical ball losses, and the two from Josh Allen specifically. An interception in the scoring area meaning a nine-minute possession yielded no points, and his final quarter dropped ball that the Dolphins turned into a touchdown just later
It was classic 'previous Bills teams' as they shot themselves in the foot, getting into a hole on defense and Josh Allen attempting to overcompensate to dig his team out of it - not the composed, disciplined, well-balanced Buffalo team we've witnessed this year
The Dolphins have served up a varied performances this year so the jury's out on if this is the beginning of something, but for the Bills they'll need an instant response in a tough game against the Buccaneers next week as the Patriots are sneaking into a comfortable advantage at the summit of the American Football Conference East
Spotlight - New England Identify Route to Surprise Top Seed
Speaking of the Patriots, they're one of three 8-2 squads in the league, all American Football Conference sides, but could they be the top team?
One could pick holes in New England, the Broncos and the Colts actually for feasting on the lesser sides, with just five of their total twenty-four victories coming against opponents with a positive record - and one of those was the Colts beating the Denver
Denver beat the champion Eagles in Philly and are kings of the final quarter while Indianapolis can ride Taylor, but the New England adding Sunday's win in Tampa to their prime time win in Orchard Park appears to be a declaration
Their two defeats came in recently appointed coach Vrabel's initial three games, with seven straight wins, similar to the Broncos, since then - but taking down Baker Mayfield after the Buccaneers had a bye to prepare was significant
Drake Maye's Most Valuable Player credentials won't go away, and he certainly earns point for bravery after absorbing some hard tackles in Tampa but hanging in there to guide his side to victory
The defensive unit is solid and first-year rusher TreVeyon Henderson exploded on Sunday with 147 rushing yards and two exhilerating touchdowns of fifty-five and sixty-nine yards - establishing himself as just the fifth different runner to break 22mph this season on his first score
Although you can debate who 'the best' is technically, the Patriots should be favourites to finish with the top record due to their remaining opponents - which features just a single matchup against a successful opponent, albeit a huge one against Buffalo
Visiting the Ravens is also tough, but Denver have it more difficult in the AFC West with the Kansas City to play twice, the Los Angeles Chargers (who might also challenge for top seed but encounter the identical challenge) and also the Green Bay on the fixture list
The Indianapolis also face the Kansas City, and have the Seahawks, San Francisco and two matchups with the five and four Jaguars to contend with. There is a considerable distance to travel but the door is available for a surprise number one position in the AFC
Next Week - Rams & Seahawks Prepare for Next Week Clash
Two teams with strong arguments to be better than all of the three different 8-2 sides are NFC West opponents the Seahawks and Los Angeles, who both put up forty points to reach 7-2 ahead of the upcoming Hollywood blockbuster meeting between the two in Los Angeles
Both have secured four victories in a consecutive games, have signal callers in Stafford and Darnold performing at an high standard (although Sam Darnold had ball security problems on Sunday) with top receivers, and defenses giving up fewer than twenty points a game
Both could easily be undefeated as too - especially the Rams as their two defeats came in extra time against the 49ers and then that painful defeat in Philly when they had a potentially winning kick with the final play blocked and run back by the Eagles for a touchdown
Seattle were also defeated to the 49ers, with a last-minute score in week one, before falling to the last kick of the contest against the Tampa Bay - so they are truly among the top teams in the league
The upcoming game on Sunday could be the best of the year so far
Top Performer - Taylor
Taylor might be on for a record season after his remarkable performance in Germany - running for 244 yards, scoring three scores and contributing another forty-two {receiving yards
